Retiring Clinic Laptops Under HIPAA: Hospital ITAD Use Case
How a hospital system retired ePHI laptops and imaging workstations under HIPAA: BAA, chain of custody, verified NIST 800-88 wipes, one certificate per drive.
Tell Coretek 360 what you are retiring and where it sits, and attach an asset list if you have one. We plan the pickup, the data destruction, the resale, and the paperwork, so your team does not have to.

Every request goes to our team, and we reply with a plan and a quote. Including what you are retiring, roughly how many units, and where it sits speeds that up. For a pickup already in motion or a report you need, choose Support as your reason or call (704) 792-2221.
What you are retiring, roughly how many units, and where it sits. An asset list with serial numbers helps most, since every asset is tracked by serial number from pickup through final disposition. Photos of the pallets or racks also help us quote the scheduled pickup accurately.
CSV, Excel, PDF, and image files, and you can attach more than one at a time. An exported asset list or inventory in CSV or Excel is ideal, because the serial numbers carry straight into the chain of custody and the serialized report you receive at the end of the job.
Yes. Choose Schedule a pickup as your reason, tell us where the hardware is, and we will follow up to set a time. Pickups run on a schedule in tracked vehicles, and chain of custody is documented from your dock to the Coretek 360 floor.
Devices are wiped to NIST 800-88 and verified, or shredded by our own team on site or at our facility, with a certificate of data destruction for every serial number. Coretek 360 is R2v3 certified for logical data sanitization and test and repair, a RIOS Certified Recycler, and HIPAA compliant in handling. Shredding is not yet within that R2v3 scope, and we are working to add it.
Yes. Offices, branches, plants, and data centers can all be retired under one schedule and one point of contact. We serve organizations across the US, and each site gets the same scheduled pickup, chain of custody, and serialized reporting, so your auditors see one consistent record.
Yes. The same certified process applies to any organization, from school districts and hospitals to financial firms and data centers. Tell us the regulation you answer to, such as HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, or PCI DSS, and we will plan the sanitization method and the report around it.
Our headquarters and processing facility are at 290B International Dr NW, Concord, NC 28027. From there we serve organizations across the US and in 14+ countries. Call (704) 792-2221 or email support@coretek360.com to reach the team directly during business hours.
Send your asset list and we will come back with a plan that recovers the value in it and takes the work off your team.

Coretek was founded in 2001, R2 certified in 2013 and renamed Coretek 360 in 2026. What changed in IT asset disposition in 25 years, and why the name changed.

How a bank retired teller workstations and branch servers with every asset documented from dock to disposition, and value returned, before its GLBA exam.

Six steps to recover resale value from retired IT assets: inventory, NIST 800-88 sanitization, valuation, R2v3 partner selection, logistics and settlement.

What NIST 800-88 Rev. 2 requires: clear, purge and destroy defined, what changed in 2025, SSD and cryptographic erase rules, what a certificate must record.
